Why MAMACARE?

We call the law MamaCare, with good reason. It’s giving Moms and our kids the health care we need:

Preventive care we need to stay healthy, like vaccinations for our children and women's health services we need, like Pap smears, mammograms and osteoporosis screenings;

Protection against discriminatory health insurer practices, like not letting insurers deny coverage to our children because of pre-existing conditions, and protecting the future of Medicare, so it will be there for our grandmothers when they need it.

Security in knowing that our adult children can stay on our family health insurance policies until age 26 and our policies can’t be canceled if we get sick.

I Love MamaCare!

National Women’s Health Week (May 12 to 18) is almost here! There’s no better time to celebrate the new health care law and all that it does for women and our families.

Join Raising Women's Voices and allies on Twitter on Friday May 10th to celebrate moms and their roles in keeping our families healthy. Throughout the entire day, we will be highlighting the ways the ACA gives moms opportunities to make sure we and our loved ones get the care we need.

Want to participate? Here are 3 ways you can.

1) Tweet us a tweet starting with “Mama says…”

Here are some examples!
#Mamasays that even though you may be young, you still need to get insured.
#Mamasays you should make sure you get a pap smear, now covered without co-pay!

2) Fill out this form and tell us what your Mama says about staying healthy!
